RE-TREAD: Improving Healthcare for the Elderly and Disabled in the Cross-Border Region

Toplice Lipik – Special Hospital for Medical Rehabilitation together with partners from Croatia and Serbia, has launched an innovative healthcare project co-funded by the European Union through the Interreg IPA Cross-border Cooperation Programme Croatia-Serbia 2021-2027. This €1.44 million initiative brings together three specialized hospitals and a development agency to modernize rehabilitation services and introduce family-based healthcare approaches in the cross-border region of West-Bačka, South-Bačka, and Požega-Slavonia.

Key Innovations
The project will deliver three major improvements:
  • Advanced Medical Equipment: Special hospitals in Novi Sad and Lipik will receive state-of-the-art robotic rehabilitation systems, while the hospital in Apatin will upgrade its hydrotherapy facilities.
  • Professional Development: Healthcare professionals will receive specialized training in innovative rehabilitation methods (DNS and Schroth), enhancing treatment quality for patients.
  • Community-Based Care: A new educational-consultation center will be established, featuring mobile medical teams to support patients at home. A dedicated web portal will provide tailored rehabilitation programs and guidance for patients and their families.

Specijalna bolnica za medicinsku rehabilitaciju Lipik (u daljnjem tekstu Bolnica) nastoji u svom poslovanju biti usklađena sa svim relevantnim zakonskim odredbama i propisima koji se odnose na osobne podatke u svim zemljama u kojima posluje. Ovaj dokument određuje temeljne principe po kojima Bolnica obrađuje osobne podatke kupaca, potrošača, dobavljača, poslovnih suradnika, zaposlenika i drugih te utvrđuje uloge i odgovornosti u svim odjelima tvrtke prilikom obrade osobnih podataka.

Project Summary: Through workshops, lectures, and promotional materials, the project will highlight the need for healthy lifestyles, which will help maintain good health. Health promotion and disease prevention will be advocated, raising citizens' awareness of the importance of health care, ultimately contributing to a healthier population.

Project activities are related to the observance of important dates and are structured into three different sets:

1. RED DRESS DAY (February 2023) - A public health campaign dedicated to raising       awareness of the risks of stroke (Cerebrovascular Infarction - CVI) in women.
 Activities: conference, healthy eating workshop, releasing helium balloons with messages   about stroke prevention in women, production and airing of promotional videos about   disease prevention possibilities.

2. BALNEOLOGICAL CONFERENCE "Dr. Ivan Šreter" (May 2023) - A professional   gathering promoting the benefits and effectiveness of treatment with thermal mineral   water and other natural assets.
 Activities: professional conference, poetry evening.

MULTIPLE SCLEROSIS DAYS (March 2022 - National MS Day, and June 2023 - World MS Day) - Education on new insights and possibilities for better living for MS patients.

Activities: conference "MS Yesterday, Today, Tomorrow", healthy eating workshop, horticulture in rehabilitation - flower planting workshop, creative work as a stimulus for better feelings - ceramic and art workshop, production and airing of promotional film "MS in Lipik Spa throughout history".

In addition to active participation in professional gatherings and conferences, the healthcare staff of Lipik Spa will have the opportunity for further professional development through organized courses: Bobath therapy, normal movement therapy, Nordic walking, dance, and yoga.

Overall Project Objective: Promoting healthy lifestyle habits by increasing awareness among the local population, employees, and users of Lipik Spa about disease prevention possibilities, creating the potential for good health or improvement of existing conditions, with a special focus on the most common diseases treated at Lipik Spa.

Project Summary: The "Lipik Spa" project is an integrated development and revitalization project of Lipik's cultural heritage. Lipik is renowned for its natural beauty, cultural and historical heritage, and centuries-old tradition in tourism, but its heritage suffered severe destruction during the Homeland War. The project aims to stimulate the restoration and preservation of cultural heritage and the utilization of the tourist potential of Villa Zinka – Villa of Good Water, the Park, and the People's Baths.

Through the implementation of the Lipik Spa project, the standard of interpretation, equipment, and quality of cultural tourism facilities will be raised. Additionally, the promotion and distribution system of cultural tourism facilities will be improved, and awareness among the population about the preservation and valorization of cultural heritage will be raised.

General Objective: Increase employment and tourist revenue through the enhancement of cultural heritage by creating a new integrated cultural-tourism product for the city of Lipik. This includes the restoration and tourist valorization of immovable cultural assets, as well as the enhancement of the management and promotion system for the tourist destination.

Specific Objective: Restore and preserve cultural heritage and put into operation and utilize the tourist potential of the project area, including Villa Zinka – Villa of Good Water, the Park, and the People's Baths. Through the implementation of the proposed program, the standard of interpretation, equipment, and quality of Lipik's cultural tourism facilities will be raised. Additionally, the promotion and distribution system of cultural tourism facilities will be improved in the domestic market, and awareness among the local population about the preservation and valorization of cultural heritage will be raised.
